I'm involved with a range of creative technology projects, working somewhere between service design and communication planning with a strong focus on free culture and how commercially the use of open licencing can work to liberate business and creative processes.
Since 2006 I've been researching and developing models that work within this framework - much of which was born from my studies and interest in art - namely the conceptual movements of the last 1960s and the practitioners who still today produce some of the most fascinating creative.
I've been involved with internet based technologies since 1996; admittedly the first encounter with Mosaic left me unimpressed - at the time it seemed no more than database retrieval - there was no 'write' movement, and code was verbose to the visual industries. Although my interest in data structures fueled my enthusiasm for the web, it was 1999 that the glimpse of building new ideas with the internet seemed interesting.
Through iteration after iteration of industry changes, there is still a huge void in the creative, business and technology sectors where invention should be happening. A lot of this has to do with the conflicts in language: how we describe what the opportunities of invention are.
The most significant factor in commercial invention and production resides around media - the control of copyright - and thus the stiffing of innovation that we all should be involved with - has become one of my core interests and a fundamental reason for my studio, Ag8.

About this site
This domain is my collection of notes, sketches, research and thoughts. I rested on using a wiki for this, instead of a blog, as it's just more flexible. Infact, the blog is just a part of the wiki. Many thanks to wikidots founder, Michal, for a damn fine invention.
The site aggregates my profiles on other web services, and uses their technologies to bring all the action here.
Many of the pages on this wiki are old, dated and should mostly be ignore.
As of September 2009, I've rebooted this site. It's in early redevelopment.
